Prof.C.Chiranjeevi Mineral Engineering Science Award

Prof. C Chiranjeevi

A post graduate course M.Sc [Ore Dressing] was initiated in the Department of Geology, Andhra University by Prof.Calamur Mahadevan. Ore Dressing is truly an interdisciplinary subject that demands understanding of basic science subjects such as geology, surface chemistry, and mineral physics apart from engineering aspects of separation techniques. As the mineral engineering field developed the course in M.Sc [Ore Dressing] was shifted from the Geology Department to the Department of Chemical Engineering and was renamed as M.Sc[Mineral Process Engineering]. Prof.C.Chiranjeevi of the Department of Chemical Engineering took special interest in the subject of Mineral Process Engineering. He guided researchers in the area of mineral processing. Mineral Industries selected mineral process engineers from the Department of Chemical Engineering through campus interviews during the period of Prof.C.Chiranjeevi as Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering. Many of them are in senior positions in the industry today. Prof.C.Chiranjeevi used to advise his research students not to indulge in research exercises but to work hard to give a contribution. In the light of his interest in the field of mineral process engineering his students and admirers instituted Prof.C.Chiranjeevi Mineral Engineering Science Award to encourage young scientists working in the areas of mineral processing from any branch of science and engineering. Young scientists and engineers researching the problems related to mineral processing from any branch of science are encouraged to post the abstract of their papers published in peer-reviewed journals/ presented during the seminars of the Mineral Processing Technology series organized by Indian Institute of Mineral Engineers/ presented during International Mineral Processing Congress, with full details of the publication. These will be considered for conferring the award and incase required the full papers will be asked from the author. The nominee authors are required to post detailed profile on www.naturenetwork.com including contact email id.
