Mineral Process Engineering

Mineral processing plants world over have some problem or the other. All these plants are headed by Chemical, Metallurgica l, Mining or Mechanical Engineers. Mineral Processing is an inter disciplinary subject of geology and Engineering, chemical engineering in particular. There are very few institutes which offer courses in mineral process engineering. And these institutes are not able to cater global requirements of the mineral industry.

Andhra University used to offer one year M. Sc in mineral process engineering that consisted of four subjects and a project report. The four subjects are [1] geology of mineral deposits, [2] mineralogy and crystallography, [3] principles of mineral dressing and [4] mineral processing flow sheets and industrial minerals.

This is an attempt to introduce those subjects to engineers working in mineral processing plants or those who might be interested in carrying out research in mineral processing.
